Numerous Amazon members–authors and reviewers alike–have reported instances of book reviews being removed because “the reviewer knows the author personally.” While Amazon has not publicly divulged its methodology in making this determination, many members have found a common thread.
In the Amazon account settings, it is possible to link the account to Facebook and Twitter. This purports to “improve your Amazon experience,” but this could also very easily be used to determine friendship or relationship between an author and reviewer.
